just.... wow.

I just did my presentation of what was going to be my term paper. Catch that "was going to be," did you? I knew you would, because you're smart people.

I was somewhat concerned about the fact that she said we could/should adjust/edit our papers to reflect comments and questions that we got from the class on our presentations today, but I thought,Oh, SURELY no one would really make comments four days before the final paper is due, that would really change the focus of the paper. No exclamation points, because I was so sure of this that it seemed a simple fact.

Things I didn't count on:

1. The fact that the teacher herself used this topic for her dissertation, so she knows it backwards and forwards. Who knew? The dissertation hasn't been published yet, so it didn't show up anywhere.

2. The fact that I have a migraine this morning and even with meds, seem to have done such a poor job presenting my findings that she thought I was using medical research about HRT instead of research about women seeking info about HRT. Man, I can be inarticulate when I have a migraine.

The only good news is that she let me go first and leave class after presenting, so at least I didn't have to sit there with the lights making me sick for 5-6 hours.

She told me to broaden the focus of my paper. I told her that I had SO MUCH information printed out that pertained to "Women seeking information about health issues" that there is NO way I can synthesize it into a 10-page paper. (Especially since I now have to do a bunch of re-reading, and half the stuff I had begun to get sorted out in my head must be replaced.) She said she'd send me citations tonight. (Yay! More articles!) And this is due in FOUR DAYS.

The only good thing was that she said I did a good job of incorporating what we learned in class with what the articles showed.

So now I'll go study for my final in the other class, which is tomorrow morning. To take breaks from that, I'll sort through all the stuff I printed out for the term paper and was getting ready to recycle, to see what, if anything, I can use for my NEW TOPIC.

I'd be tempted to cry, but (a) I'm such a guy and (b) it takes too much energy.
