That's about the Sighs of it
Apr. 7th, 2005 06:26 pmI'm loving this weather. Who doesn't love spring? Well, maybe I shouldn't rush to conclusions here. The way things have been devolving, I might not keep loving it. It used to be my favorite season back in Kentucky, where winter was noticeably longer; then autumn was almost as bad as winter. Autumn still isn't my favorite season but I don't hate it like I used to. For one thing, it hangs around long enough that the leaves are pretty and the temperature is nice for a while. (Wait-- that's two things...) In Kentucky spring always made me feel like a little crocus, poking my head out of the frozen ground, praying that the sun was going to shine. As noted here recently, though, I've been feeling more like a vampire than a crocus. Lately sunshine makes my head explode if I'm outside, which doesn't tend to make me long for the great outdoors. Add to that the fact that I've become allergic to some early spring thing.... suddenly my favorite season becomes approach/avoidance time. Oh, it's beautiful out there! I'm going to stay in here and enjoy it! Never let it be said I don't know how to have a good time.
Molly and the kittens are making slow progress. Last night Nia was brushing Molly, who was purring and blissfully happy. Purr, purr, purr. Carmen approached slowly. Molly kept purring. Carmen kept approaching. The tip of Molly's tail twitched a little. Carmen, of course, fulfilled the job description of "kitten" and pounced on it, thus pissing off Molly, who growled and hissed. Nia takes this to mean that Carmen should be riding the short bus, not Miranda. Nia just doesn't understand the job description of "kitten." Sigh.
I've put off doing my taxes until this week-- see, I'm really a good 'murrican! It's definitely a good news/ bad news joke this year. The bad news is that I owe them money. Nikulai suggested that I itemize, on the theory that my medical expenses would probably make it worth my while. The good news part is that I appear to have been healthier than I thought! I don't have all my receipts on hand, (I figured if it seemed worthwhile I could get stuff from the dr's ofcs) but I used my palmtop to count my doctor's appointments, got my prescription expenses from my pharmacy, and combed through my checkbook stubs for random whatever. That gave me almost enough to make it work... Unfortunately the checkbook stubs don't cover the whole year and I used my debit card a lot to pay for medical stuff, but I'm not really convinced that it would make enough difference anyway. Sigh.
