organohuh?
Nov. 5th, 2006 06:13 pmI'm working on the paper about the effects of ferrogallic ink on parchment, and was re-reading (scanning, anyway) some of the articles I've collected, looking for sepcific information, when I cam across this: "It was established in an organoleptic way that softening resulted only when systems containg water were used," so of course I had to look up "organoleptic." It means "pertaining to the senses." In other words, they looked at it and touched it before and after putting water on it. Of course, in a scholarly paper for a peer-reviewed journal, they couldn't just SAY that. Insert amused snort here.
I've been working on this paper for 8 or 9 hours today and have horrifyingly little to show for it. I have to tell myself that a lot of the early part is reacquainting myself with stuff I've read earlier and that it'll get faster. Still, I find myself futzing around with ridiculously tiny details and worrying about things that are of no real consequence-- it's that tendency I have to go off on tangents and focus on leeeeetle things instead of the big picture. Sigh.
