Well, THAT'S a relief.

Gotta love that senstive Bush family. And Shrub says, "Out of the rubbles of Trent Lott's house -- he's lost his entire house -- there's going to be a fantastic house. And I'm looking forward to sitting on the porch. (Laughter.)" Hey, it's all good now, right?. source And you'll notice that the last quote came from the whitehouse.gov site, so you can't accuse me of spinning it. It spins just fine on its own, thank you. And Brownie's doing a hell of a job, so we can all go on about our business now.

You heard me. Get back to your lives and quit worrying about it.

His mom said something that just dropped my jaw - it came out sounding kind of like "Of course they're staying in the Astrodome, these people were all poor before, so this is better than they've ever had";
the tone was all condescending, and she made it sound like every single person who had been moved to the Astrodome was too poor to have evacuated in the first place (not true). I've been looking for the link to the story, but I think it was during the top-of-the-hour regular news feed. I'll keep looking, though.

If you want to be really horrified about what is going on and the amazing fucked-upness of the situation, check out recent posts made by rjl20 at http://www.livejournal.com/users/rjl20/ (His actual journal is not on LJ but you can read it there--if you click on comments, you will notice that you leave LJ.) If you have comedy central, I highly recommend The Daily Show, which is great at highlighting such stupid quotes. (It comes on at 11pm, but there are re-runs all the time, so you can see yesterday's show at 10am or 8pm.)
