I forgot to mention in my post about Cattle Raids that one of the highest points was seeing [livejournal.com profile] nomadicmedic when he stopped by for an hour or so Saturday night. Sweet.

Last night I taught an A&S class at Kappellenberg on "Making A Medieval Manuscript." I felt like I was totally fumble-tongued- I was certainly not at the top of my speaking form. Livia pointed out, though, (and it is true,) that everyone seemed to be paying rapt attention, asked questions at the end, and then stayed around to look at the pretty pictures in all the books I brought. I guess I did okay after all. Whew!

I mentioned to Livia the other day that I was in a mood for corn pudding. Corn pudding? What is corn pudding? So I described it briefly-- corn with milk and eggs, and I add those canned green chilies and some cheddar cheese, and bake it. Hmmm. Never heard of it. This evening while I was eating dinner (including corn pudding) I got a call. Okay, how do you make corn pudding? I've been thinking about it all day. That's the way to disseminate my mama's recipes throughout the land. Heh.

I've been working on my application letter (Statement of Purpose) all day. I had the beginnings of two totally different approaches, and my coaches agreed that I needed to combine the two somehow. So I worked on it most of the day and was pretty happy. Sent it off to the coaches again for another review, and find that I need to tweak it some more. Sigh. I'm sick of looking at this thing. Just admit me to the damn school, okay? Geesh.

Oh, man, now I want corn pudding! (Do you just use the family recipe and add green chiles, or do you cut the sugar some? I'll have to make it sometime for the kids sans chiles--I don't know how they could not like it. Maybe I'll make it as a contribution to the Forbes family Thanksgiving dinner. Hmmmm...)

Yes, writing a Statement of Purpose is a bitch. If I hadn't been accepted to PT school the first time around, I'm not sure I'd have had the fortitude to revise/redo mine again. If it makes you feel any better, I had like 8 people read mine, so I had WAY more suggestions to deal with (and of course, some of them conflicted).

Oh, also if you want to link to another LJ user and have that little person icon in front of their name do an html tag like so: <lj user="anonamys"> (which results in [livejournal.com profile] anonamys)

You'll do just fine on the letter :-) Heck, you did great on the GRE, you've not got a lot to worry about.

I have actually had corn pudding. The best thing about living in Atlanta is the soul food. And the soul food they served at my college included corn pudding. With green chilies. It was lovely. Now I've got a hankering for it, too...

You gave a great class. KBerg isn't some academic review board, it's not like you have to convince us to your way of thinking. We all know you, we all know you know your shit, so when you say "bla is how it went down," we all go "damn, I didn't know that, that's cool."

Also, I have little to no interest in doing scribal stuff. I don't see how painting my sword with period paints will make it swing faster, and I think Dame Anne would laugh at me if I put gold leaf on my seneschal's reports. However, I am interested in how things were generally done, as my persona would know some of this. You have added to my persona's knowledge.
