On the road again

I just got a call from Mother. They're doing surgery on Aunt Susan tomorrow morning, early. They told her she had a 50-50 chance with this surgery, and then 50-50 with the hip surgery, but that if she didn't have the surgery, she'd be in pain like she is now for the rest of her life. Mother said Aunt S thought about it for a long time.

This morning I felt like I was taking a cold. I also had a headache, so I took my Imitrex and slept a long time this afternoon. My throat feels a little scratchy but not too bad, but I'm sure I'm taking either a cold or flu. I did tell Mother when she called, and asked if she still wants me to come if I'm sick. She said yes, that I would provide company for tehm (when they're at home, I guess) at the very least. I looked online to day to try to find out how long I'd be contagious, and about.com said flu is contagious for up to 5 days after symptoms appear. Since I don't know of any reliable way to tell whether it's a cold or flu, I'm looking at Saturday before I'm probably not contagious. Whee. I'm sure not going to see Aunt S until I know I'm not contagious.

So, it looks like I'll be hitting the road tomorrow. No idea how long I'll be gone. Unfortunately, with the way I was feeling today, and not knowing if/when I was going up, I didn't really get any packing done. Gonna be a busy night!

Ed: Just went to the library and got six-- count 'em, SIX-- books on CD to listen to on the drive. At least I won't be sleepy.

For what its worth- If you have time to stop at whole foods and go to their herbal section pick up somethign called wellness formula. Mac Daddy of all vitamins..
it is a horse pill but it'll do the trick to keeping you up.:)
