addiction

Thanks to a little help from Miranda, I lost about half of the entry while I was working on it this morning. I thought I had remembered everything, but realized I missed two important points.

The more important of the two is: Woo hoo! A & R gave me a laptop for Christmas! I love my Mac, but I swear I think if I had it to do again, I would have gone for the laptop. This way, I get both! If I were all young and girly, I'd be going "Squee!!" all over the place, but I guess you'll have to figure out what an age/dignity (ha!) appropriate response is. Have fun.

The other thing I was going to throw in is that I got hooked on Su Doku over the holiday. Mother's paper carries it, and I'd never seen it anywhere else. I thought it looked like fun but could never figure out how to do it. Have I mentioned that I'm not so good with the logic thing? I've always felt like I wanted to be better but couldn't figure it out myself. Amy got me started with the Su Doku and I am horrified to admit that I actually bought one of those (shudder) "Dummies" books. Hey, in addition to helpful tips, it also has a few hundred puzzles in it. Amy also told me about websudoku.com. Oh, my. So tonight, to spread the joy around, I showed the site to Livia. Heh. Evil laurel. She'll have her revenge, though-- she's only played one board with me, and I think she's a natural at it.

You might also like PrintSudoku (http://www.printsudoku.com). For those times you can't be on WebSudoku, it's perfect -- 6 puzzles (5 levels of difficulty, plus a random one that tends to be a Magic Sudoku -- only 9 revealed numbers, but the main diagonals are 1-9, and the shaded boxes are always lower numbers than the revealed number in a square, so if the 2 is revealed, the shaded box is the 1), fits on one page, and the puzzles themselves are large enough to see easily, but small enough to fold into a pocket or purse.

Wow! Magic Sudoku? Never heard of it. Cool idea, though, with the "lower than" part. I'll have to try that.
