up and at 'em

I was awakened again this morning by the neighbor's alarm, which I can reliably inform you beeps for 2 hours. I wasn't able to get to sleep early last night, so I got about 4 hours sleep. I went again to the apartment manager's office this morning. Joy, my usual contact, doesn't work weekends, and the weekend woman wasn't particularly sympathetic. Her attitude is, hey, you're living in an old building and sound carries, and everybody has a different schedule. I guess my options are (1) move, which is way more trouble and expense than I care to take on right now, (2) camp out in my own apartment and sleep on the sofa on weekends or (3) plan to get up at 6 on weekends. I know getting up at 6 isn't onerous in and of itself; I've gotten up regularly WELL before 6 AM for years on end. It just makes me cranky to have to get up when I don't need to. What am I going to do at 6 on a Saturday morning? And it's just wrong to have to get up earlier on weekends than during the week. Pthbthpth. Am I being irrational? Nah, not me.

I'd cut the power to the building.

Just a thought ... its a hassle, but after spending the last 7 months trying to sleep through leaf blowers and roof replacements, its well worth the investment!

Or you hang some of that sound proofing stuff and cover it with a really nice tapestry?

i suggest if nobody's going to do anything about it, you break in and take stuff - or go out and recruit junkies to do it. this is what i think everytime our neighbor's alarm randomly goes off for an hour at a time. not that i've done this or anything, but it's late and i'm out of really brilliant ideas for the day. (on the other hand, if she has anything you really covet, this would be the ideal time . . .
