Amy is going to lunch with her Dad today, most likely at Arby’s (he’s finally graduated from Mickey D’s.) She is really looking forward to that (ha!) because she already knows the litany of complaints she’s going to hear. And nothing is ever his fault, so just get that idea right out of your heads. He is also a half-hour late picking her up. Wait—he just pulled up. Whoa—his hair and beard are completely grey and white, and he’s really grizzled looking, moving like an old man. I used to be married to HIM? Shudder doesn’t begin to touch this.
Amy’s knitted a sampler lap quilt for Mother and Daddy. She didn’t have it quite done, so she brought the squares and has been connecting them here; she has simply not said who they’re for. Mother keeps raving about what good job she’s doing. It’s going to be great fun watching her face when she realizes it’s for her.
I haven’t been able to get online the last couple of days, and I’ve been feeling the pain, so this afternoon I packed up and came to the wireless-internet coffee shop, where I’m enjoying a big mocha. Yum. The uber-cheerful Christmas music is a bit much, but we can put up with all kinds of crap for our internet fix, can’t we? Including the sullen twenty-something sitting in front of me who isn’t drinking anything, and whose headphones are so loud I can hear them over the piped-in music and the laughing women at the next table. He ain’t even pretty. In other words, not earning his keep in any way, shape or form. Heh.
I don’t really have any more news (fancy that!) but am just happy to be out of the house. I’ve finished the books I was reading, and one of the Sandman series besides. Good thing I brought a bunch of books, huh?
