I finally managed to talk to my rep at HR, on the fourth call today, and got wonderful news. The date my disability kicked in was December 13 of last year, so I have checks coming till January of next year! (Processing delays, you know.) Whee! Big relief.

Are you still planning to look for a job? How would a part time job affect your benefits?

A part time job won't affect them at all; this short term disability only says I can't do the specific job I had before. They are determined to send me paperwork for long term disability, too, but I don't qualify for that unless I am unable to work AT ALL. No idea why they are so determined to send me that; I've already told them once that I don't qualify for it. Weird.

I'm not going to apply for any jobs at all till after I take the GRE. I'll see, after that. I'd more likely look for library or office work than retail.

Oh, and I do plan to call and cancel the interview tomorrow instead of just standing them up.
