I am reminded YET AGAIN what a difference good writing makes. I can't analyze a piece of text and tell you what it is that makes it good or bad (usually) but damn. I just started one of the textbooks I'll be using this semester, and I've already read 2 or 3 chapters in the other book for the same class. I had to force myself to read the other book, but this one is clear and engaging, and it makes me feel like what it's saying is important. I'm making notes like mad, and enjoying the reading. The other book (and, admittedly, the teacher) made me wonder if I should simply drop this class and be done with it. I don't know if it'd be better or worse if I could analyze and tell you what the difference is.
